Advisory

To strengthen relationships between and among students and faculty, each student is assigned an advisor for the duration of his/her four years at CICS Northtown. This allows for advisory to become a “family” and for the advisor and student to develop a meaningful relationship. Advisory meets every day for 20 minutes, except for Wednesdays, when they meet for an hour.

During Advisory, students participate in Low Ropes, debates, assemblies, intramurals and spirit activities. Low Ropes is an experiential series of activities (including games, obstacles and initiatives) which foster cooperation and leadership while allowing students to have fun and get to know each other on different levels. Students have the opportunity to integrate the content of their classes through debate and other cross-curricular activities. Students also have regular contact with their college counselor and review study skills and other relevant topics.
