The world at home
At CICS Northtown Academy, we strive to provide a well-rounded, rigorous, and unique education to each and every student. Ranked among the top schools in Chicago and Illinois, we equip our Pumas with the skills and confidence to succeed in any path they choose. While much of the rhetoric around high-quality secondary education focuses on AP and dual enrollment courses, SAT/ACT scores, and college admissions, we want our phenomenal school community to be recognized beyond statistics.
We are—without a doubt—a college-preparatory school, relentless in our pursuit of academic achievement. Our students have gone on to thrive at institutions like the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Loyola, Pomona College, and Yale. CICS Northtown graduates have become leading educators, engineers, doctors, nurses, college professors, and even one systems analyst for the FBI.
Along with these remarkable accomplishments, we are incredibly proud to be the most diverse charter school in the city of Chicago. With over 40 languages represented among our student body, we are, in fact, the world at home.

The Most Culturally Diverse Charter School in Chicago
Located in the Sauganash neighborhood of Chicago, CICS Northtown Academy is home to over 49 languages (including Spanish, Arabic, Assyrian, Urdu, Gujarati, Tagalog, and more). Chicago’s diversity is truly represented in our vibrant student body. The breakdown of cultures is 60% Hispanic/Latino, 18% Caucasian, 15% Asian, 6% African American, and 1% Other.

In addition to a long list of creative and athletic extracurricular activities, we support student-run organizations such as the Asian Student Alliance, Assyrian Club, and Unafraid Dreamers. We are steadfast in our commitment to fostering teamwork among our students—empowering them to collaborate across diverse backgrounds, talents, and beliefs in pursuit of a greater good.
