ACT and PreACT Preparation

Posted on: December 19, 2025

The ACT and PreACT assessments, which play a key role in measuring student growth and college readiness, are on April 14 and 16, 2026.

The ACT and PreACT are digital, multiple-choice exams administered by all Illinois high schools each spring. The PreACT is designed for 9th and 10th grade students to build familiarity with the skills, content, and format they will encounter on the 11th grade ACT.

At Northtown, our schoolwide goal is to increase each student’s ACT score by at least 3 points and to grow the percentage of students meeting college-readiness benchmark scores. Reaching these goals requires a strong partnership between school and home. We encourage families to review the ACT and PreACT resources we have shared to better understand the assessments and how to support students at home. We also invite you to join our next Parent Advisory Council meeting on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 4:30–5:30 PM, where we will share strategies and guidance on how best to prepare your Northtown student(s) for success on the ACT.
