All 9th, 10th and 11th graders will take a Practice ACT test to prepare for the April ACT. The ACT an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice, digital test administered by ACT. The ACT is replacing the SAT. The best way to prepare for the Practice ACT is to be present on Jan 29th, be well rested and eat a healthy breakfast.
Attendance is REQUIRED for all 9th, 10th and 11th graders on Wednesday from 8:00am-1:30pm to take this practice test.
Seniors are expected to choose one of the following options: 1. Visit 2-year or 4-year College: The best way to know if you’ll like a college is to go on a tour and see if you could imagine yourself on that campus. Students may use one of their College Trip (C) attendance to take an official tour of a 2-year college, 4-year college, or trade school on January 29. Students must schedule an official tour on the college campus. Tours can be scheduled on the college website under “Tour” or “Campus Visit.” Showing up and walking around campus without an official tour will not count as a College Trip in their attendance.
Students must upload a photo of themselves on campus and/or email confirmation of the college tour here (https://forms.gle/zG9ZUsMk7r7bNhBr8) for their attendance to be marked C. 2. Post-Secondary Workshop at Northtown: From 8:00am-1:30pm, the counselors have planned several activities to help seniors get closer to graduation. These activities include: learning about the timeline for Semester 2 of senior year, submitting a financial aid application, setting up 2-year and 4-year college portals, and updating admissions decisions in Schoolinks. Each of these are required tasks. Students who do not attend school or do not provide evidence of completion of a college visit will be marked as an Unexcused Absence (A).
