NTA is a Safe and Supportive School

Posted on: September 13, 2025

Student safety is our top priority. When students feel safe in the building, they can focus on their growth and achievement and form strong relationships. Given the recent political climate, some of our students and families have expressed concerns about how our schools may interact with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Review the information below regarding CICS Northtown Academy’s response to Federal Agents in Chicago:

  • NTA does NOT ask for our families’ immigration status
  • NTA will NOT coordinate with federal immigration enforcement agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
  • NTA will NOT share student records with ICE or any other federal representatives, except in the rare case where there is a court order or consent from the parent/guardian
  • NTA will NOT allow ICE agents or any other federal representatives access to CPS facilities unless they produce a criminal judicial warrant signed by a federal judge

Northtown is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment that protects the rights of all students.

School is and will continue to be the best and safe space for students.

School will be closed
tomorrow, January 23, 2026

due to the forecast of dangerously low temperatures and wind chills. The safety and well-being of our students, families, and staff are always our highest priority.
