On Time: Attendance Matters!

Posted on: September 11, 2026

Punctuality is a key component of academic achievement and a critical professional habit that prepares students for life beyond the classroom. Consistent, on-time arrival to school and every individual class period maximizes learning, limits instructional disruptions, and fosters personal accountability.

Being prompt to every class allows students to take full ownership of their education while helping us maintain a secure, focused, and supportive learning environment for everyone.

Reminders about Attendance:

  1. Aim to arrive to Northtown by 7:30am which gives students plenty of time to make it through the Puma Safety Zones and visit their lockers before 1st period.
  2. Get your coffee at Pepe’s Snack Stop in the Cafeteria. Do not stop at Starbucks or Dunkin if it will cause you to be late. There are NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS allowed after 8:00am.
  3. Monitor attendance in PowerSchool. If there is an error, reach out to your teacher ASAP.
  4. Two tardies earns a detention that must be served within 2 days. Students are tardy if they arrive to class in the first 5 minutes.
  5. Northtown will follow the Attendance Policy which states our school’s action steps for student absences which includes locking Semester grades for students who exceed 20 absences in a class period.
